2) to persevere, to persist
3) to keep one's standing

4. First, Stand Firm. (v 1) Tie a knot and hang on!
Get rid of the “give up” attitude.
The right attitude,“I shall not be moved.”
End of rope?
Tie a knot and hang on!

5. Work For Unity In Christ's Body. (vs 2-3)
2 I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life. Phil. 4:2-3

What are we destroying when they injure the church?
The Church is your job too!!!
“Yokefellow” someone Paul could count on to help!

4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

Stop trying to find something to be happy about, you've got it!
Repetition of “rejoice” shows its importance in the life of believers.
Joy is the keynote of this book.

9. Have A Truly Forbearing Spirit. (v 5)
Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Phil. 4:5

2) equitable, fair, mild, gentle
“Forbearance” = patience w/ sweetness.
Some people, if they have any of it keep it well hid!
We want God to be this way with us, don't we?
Our motivation is,“the Lord is near.”

11. Give Up the Habit of Worrying. (v 6)
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Phil. 4:6

Have faith in God.
Fear and Faith are opposites
“Nothing” = Not one thing!
Cure for worry? “Prayer with Thanksgiving.”

13. Force Your Mind To Dwell On Good Things. (v. 7)
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Phil. 4:7-9

14. Force Your Mind To Dwell On Good Things. (v. 7)
“Think” KJV, “Dwell” NASV means to Meditate on good things.
This can be a literal vacation from stress!!!
You will never rest by God's peaceful stream if your mind is in the gutter
This is where God's Word fits in!!!
