Endangered species

Endangered species is a population of organism which is at a risk of becoming extinct due to few in number, threatened by changing environment or due to deforestation there may be lack of food/water.

Endangered species terms V Vulnerable species- species particularly at risk because of low numbers or small range, but not threatened species. Threatened species- species whose population is not yet low enough to be in immediate danger of extinction but may face serious problem in future. Endangered species-species that is in immediate danger of becoming extinct.its number is usually low and protection for survival. Extinct species- species are those which are no longer living.

How do species get listed in endangered list? Any person may petition the government to list species as either endangered or threatened. Endangered species are those species which are in danger of extinction through all. The decision to list species is supposed to be based solely on, science not on politics.

What is candidate species? Unfortunately, many species sit on the CANDIDATE list for years and years owing to adverse political pressure or funding constraints. If there is enough evidence that the species needs to be listed, but there is enough evidence that the species need to be listed, but there is in adequate funding to finish the process, the service usually declares the species listing WARRANTED BUT PRECULDED. 6 Cause of endangerment

1. HABITAT DESTRUCTION Our planet is continually changing, causing habitats to be altered and modified. Natural changes tend to occur at a gradual pace, usually causing only a slight impact on individual species. However, when changes occur at a fast pace, there is little or no time for individual species to react and adjust to new circumstances. Rapid habitat loss is primary cause of species endangerment.

. 2. Introduction of exotic species native species are those plants and animals that are a part of a specific geographic area, and have ordinarily been a part of that particular biological landscape for lengthy period of time. Exotic species are interlopers. Exotic species may also seriously disrupt delicate eclogoical balances.

3. overexploitation species that face overexploitation is may become severely endangered or extinct due to the rate in which the species are being used. Due to the trade in animal parts, many species continue to suffer high rates of exploitation. Even today, there are demands for items such as horns of rhino, tiger bones

Why save endangered species?

M Medicines Plants and animals are responsible for variety of useful medications. In fact, about 40% of all prescriptions written today are composed from the natural compounds of different species. These species not only save lives, help the to industries prosper.

2. agricultural There are an estimated 80000 plants and animals in the world. Humans depend upon only 20 species of species of these plants, such as wheat and corn, to provide 90% of worlds food. Wild relatives of these common crops contain essential disease-resistant material

3. aesthetic plant and animal species and their eco systems form the basis of Americas multi dollar, job intensive, tourism industry. They also supply recreational, spiritual, and quality of life values as well. Each year over108 million people in USA participate in wild life- related including observing, feeding and photographing wild life.
