Do’s and Don’ts of PowerPoint Things you need to know to get an “A”

Font: Size and Quantity / This is size 18 font. This is much too small. When you use a small font size, you are able to fit a lot of words on each slide, however, this is not the POINT of PowerPoint. When using PowerPoint, one ought to be using bulleted short form notes, paragraphs. / Are you having difficulty reading these notes, or paying attention? Does it seem like there is too much information crammed onto one slide? Imagine if this were your presentation - do you think your classmates would follow along, or get easily distracted and bored? Sometimes people think that this looks like they have done a lot of research, but it just makes their presentation uninteresting. Transitions / Are animations that are used to move from one slide to the next. / Using a different transition for each slide is very confusing / Having notes slide in one letter at a time is very annoying. Graphics/ Background Text that appears on top of graphics is confusing to read. Depending on the colour of your picture and the colour of your font, the text may be nearly impossible to read when done this way. when using graphics, it is best to use a slide layout that enables you to place text above, below, or next to graphics. graphics should also match the theme of your presentation.
