3 Leonard Woolley Led an excavation at Ur Uncovered different layers that held artifacts from Ur’s history 5000 B.C. to 2000 B.C.

4 Layers Deepest layer was the remains of an Ubaid Village (1) Above that layer was 8 feet of mud, evidence a flood destroyed Ur (2) Ur was rebuilt, and the Royal Cemetery of Ur was found (3) Highest layer of ruins contained small mud-brick buildings. Euphrates changed course, Ur was abandoned (4)
