Sefton Local Authority is situated in the Northwest of England, next to Liverpool We work for a division of the Local Authority called ‘Children’s Services’ Our newly appointed Strategic Director is called Peter Morgan, who joined us in September 2009

We are judged as being an ‘outstanding’ Local Authority and have a strong reputation for the quality of our schools and their provision We are part of the Advisory Service, and our role is to support our schools through a range of services and activities.

In Sefton there are: 20 Secondary Schools 71 Primary Schools 3 Infant Schools 2 Junior Schools 5 Special Schools 3 Pupil Referral Units 4 Nursery Schools 6 Private Schools

In January 2009 there were 39,717 pupils in primary, secondary and special schools In Secondary, out of 20 schools: 1 is Church of England 7 are Catholic 12 have sixth form provision In Primary: 46% are Community schools 33% are Catholic Schools 21% are Church of England
