14 april 2008- 2 - TSOs want to play a key role in the design of the system and the market development TSOs are bridging the gap between physical and contractual aspects of gas transmission TSOs have a unique position on the market while not being a market player TSOs are investing heavily in their networks to foster the development of a competitive gas market TSOs are willing to endorse their responsibilities, both at the pan- European and regional level

14 april 2008- 3 - TSOs support the GRI NW roadmap Pragmatic approaches at a local level -> essential to make timely progress GRI particularly well appropriate to solve practical local issues -> deliver quick wins, assess local results and consider application elsewhere, roll out Priorities identified within the roadmap, particularly transparency and capacities, are relevant Strengthening the informal communication for the “project” is of critical importance (programme board)

14 april 2008- 4 - TSOs are also concentrated on the European initiatives GTE priorities areas for 2008/2009 are : Transparency Investment, Capacities Need to avoid « double working » - rare skilled resources Fair allocation of resources and effective co-ordination between the regional and the European level are essential Where European process too slow or impossible (particularly due to legal or regulatory constraints), it should not hamper possible faster regional progresses

14 april 2008- 5 - Good co-ordination between GTE/GTE+ and GRI NW crucial Appropriate links between GTE/GTE+ and GRI NW are essential TSOs will organise themselves to ensure good communication between: GRI NW workstreams and related European activities, GRI workstreams, Operator Group, Programme Board
