- Collect, analyse and disseminate veterinary scientific information Promotion of veterinary services - Improve the legal framework and resources of national Veterinary Services International/regional solidarities - Encourage internarional/regional soidarities in animal disease control

3 SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION
Promotion of disease notification to the OIE OIE Workshop on HPAI (and TADs) Information Systems in Southeast Asia, in Bangkok, September 2006    - Recommended: - regular reporting through OIE World Animal Health Information System (WAHIS) - development of OIE WAHIS Regional Core for HPAI - consideration on usage of the Regional Core for other Transboundary Animal Diseases (TADs) in the Region

4 Regional Animal Health Information System
SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION Promotion of information sharing Linkage between the World Animal Health Information System (WAHIS) and OIE Tokyo (WAHIS Regional Core) - Computer programme to extract data from WAHIS and display them on OIE Tokyo web-site is under development. OIE Tokyo web-site Regional Animal Health Information System Interface WAHIS database Validated data

Trainings on epidemiology OIE/CIRAD Regional Training Workshop on Epidemiology, in Bangkok, August 2006 (for ASEAN countries) OIE National Training Workshop on Epidemiology in collaboration with CIRAD (for Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam), from November 2006 to June 2007

Improvement of the legal framework OIE/FAO-APHCA Regional Workshop on WTO’s Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Agreement, in Chiang Mai, Thailand, July 2007 - using BSE as an example e.g.OIE official disease-status recognition procedures, International standards on BSE, Quality and evaluation of Veterinary Services Review and Strengthen HPAI control strategies ( )

GF-TADs GF-TADs : FAO/OIE Global Framework for progressive control of Transboundary Animal Diseases, with participation of WHO Objective: to provide the forum for regional alliance and partnerships, capacity building and support to the national project formulation Targeted diseases in ASEAN: FMD, HPAI, CSF - Strong linkages with HPAI Control Project in Southeast Asia

11 INTERNATIONAL/REGIONAL SOLIDARITIES
Recent development of GF-TADs for Asia and the Pacific 2nd Regional Steering Committe, in Bangkok, July 2007 - Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) joined the framework of GF-TADs. - Regional Support Units (RSUs) were recommended to organise meetings and to develop their short, medium and long term strategies for prevention and control of TADs. - Location of the RSU for ASEAN was recommended to be in Bangkok, Thailand
