1 CGMS-38, New Delhi, 8-12 November 20101 CGMS-38 WMO-WP-08 10 October 2010 Prepared by WMO Agenda Item: D.1 Discussed in Plenary Dossier on the space-based GOS Presented by B. Bizzarri on appointment by WMO The GOS Dossier comprises an introduction followed by five volumes. - Vol. ISatellite programmes description - Vol. IIEarth observation satellites and their instruments - Vol. IIIGap analysis in the space-based component of GOS - Vol. IVEstimated performance of products from typical satellite instruments - Vol. VCompliance analysis of potential product performances with user requirements. The Dossier should be downloaded from: ftp://ftp.wmo.int/Documents/PublicWeb/sat/DossierGOS. This presentation highlights major updates after the main issue (January 2010).

5 5 Exploitation of the information from the GOS Dossier Support to the Rolling Review Requirement process in WMO: - proposed streamlining of user requirements to facilitate compliance analysis. Support to the CEOS Missions, Instruments and Measurements database (MIM): - specific assistance for a new section correlating instruments with products. New study on the gap analysis for the GCOS Essential Climate Variables: - see CGMS-38 WMO-WP-04 (index in the next slide). Update of the CIMO Guide dealing with observations from Space: - see draft index in the second-next slide.
