5 Transport Corridors Established in Chapter 21
During the accession negotiations with the European Union and consequent closure of Chapter 21 “Trans-Europan Networks” , this map showing the future development of the transport infrastructure in the RoC was agreed upon.

6 CROATIAN TRAFFIC AND DEVELOPMENT AXES
This slide, which is a part of the spatial planning of the Republic of Croatia, only confirms that RoC, regarding the transport network which will be connected to the European transport network, remains at the same development axes.

7 Transport Infrastructure Network

8 Public Expenditure and Investments
Million kn The level of Croatian transport infrastucture development, especially of the road sector, has greatly influenced the overall development of the country. This slide shows financial investments per transport sector in the past decade.

The results achieved so far can surely be considered Croatian export product. 9

10 Pelješac Bridge € 320 million
Current public roads network with highlighted motorways network. One of the main national priorities in the road sector is the construction of the bridge Pelješac – mainland. The rationale of this investment is to establish “solid” link between all parts of Croatia. The bridge will enable the Dubrovnik-Neretva County to have an uninterrupted road connection with the rest of the country; this will promote the development of Dubrovnik, Pelješac peninsula and the whole territory of this southern county.

11 Pelješac Bridge Dubrovnik-Neretva county is physically separated from the rest of Croatian teritory. The construction of the bridge across the Mali Ston canal will provide a link with Dubrovnik-Neretva county thus securing for all parts of Croatia to be in one road network.

Railway line Botovo – Zagreb – Rijeka - corridor Vb Important for connecting central Croatia and the Adriatic Important for improving the European regional connectivity: the shortest railway link between Hungary, other central European countries and the Mediteranean The railway network, including this railway line, has been agreed upon in negotiations within the Chapter 21 “Trans-European Network”

15 Construction scope and phases of the new lowland line Zagreb - Rijeka
Legend The future railway line Botovo – Zagreb – Rijeka, as per its transport-tehcnological and geographical features, includes 4 specific sectors: I. Botovo – Koprivnica – Križevci – Dugo Selo II. Zagreb Nod III. Horvati – Karlovac – Skradnik – Drežnica – Krasica IV. Rijeka Nod To fulfil all envisaged technological conditions and technical-technological capacities for the planned transportation capacities and conditions along the whole corridor, it will be necessary to construct some new railway sections or upgrade and construct second track alongside the existing rail, increase station capacities and modernise the equipment. All railway lines, as parts of trans-European transport corridors, will have to fulfil the required EU conditions with all materials, equipment and machinery being in line with European norms and technical specifications and furnished with required certificates. Freight transport will prevail along the whole corridor (60%-80% depending on the sector), however the passenger transport will also be significant at certain parts of the corridor (section Koprivnica-Zagreb-Karlovac).

The terms of reference for the preparation of project documentation is being prepared.

UPGRADE AND MODERNISATION OF RAILWAY LINE DIRECTION BOTOVO– ZAGREB–RIJEKA Importance for the RoC: connects central and maritime part of the country, Connects agriculture and tourism, connects industrial potential of the country with port capacities in the Rijeka basin, enables significant development of the Rijeka Port on the Adriatic and places corridor Vb among competitive railway corridors. Importance for the RoC and the EU: the shortest railway connection between Hungary, other Central European countries and Mediterranean, encourages the development of the Rijeka Port and transit railway traffic between Croatia and Central European countries, provides opportunity for subsequent development of transit railway traffic between Western Europe and the Balkans via Croatia, has significant influence on environmental protection due to redirection of large volumes of freight from road to railway. 22 Inland Waterways – project priorities
Rehabilitation of the navigation on the Sava river-upgrading of the waterway class River Information Services – phase II Vukovar port modernization Construction of the Danube – Sava canal Total length of inland waterway is 805,2 km: Danube - 137,5 km, Sava - 448,2 km, Drava - 198,6 km, Kupa - 5,9 km, Una - 15 km. The ports on inland waterway are: Osijek, Sisak, Slavonski Brod i Vukovar The priorities in this sector are: Reconstruction of the river bed of the SAVA river to reach the navigability category IV, with modernisation of the port of Vukovar and construction of multipurpose canal Danube – Sava.. DUNAV – SAVA Canal: Length: 60 km Total cost: 830 mil. €

23 Inland Waterway Projects – EU funds
IPA Technical assistance for preparation of the technical documentation: Rehabilitation and Improvement of the Sava River Waterway Reconstruction of the Port of Vukovar - New port East Port of Osijek South Quay Slavonski Brod Dangerous Goods Terminal Master Plan for Sisak New Port The following projects are co-financed with EU funds: Rehabilitation and Improvement of the Sava River Waterway Reconstruction of the Port of Vukovar - New port East Port of Osijek South Quay Slavonski Brod Dangerous Goods Terminal Master Plan for Sisak New Port Total estimated value of all projects is 8,117 mil € of whihc 6,90 mil € will be allocated in IPA. 23

24 Sea Ports PORTS AS A PART OF TRANSPORT CORRIDOR 6 ports of particular interest for Croatia – Rijeka (corridor Vb), Zadar, Šibenik, Split, Ploče (corridor Vc) and Dubrovnik RIJEKA ZADAR ŠIBENIK SPLIT PLOČE DUBROVNIK Ports of particular interest for Croatia Distance to Port Said= 1254 Nautical Miles to Gibraltar= 1608 Nautical Miles Sea transport is the most efficient, the safest and ecologically the most acceptable mode of transport which is responsible for almost 90% of the total world transport of goods. The position of the Adriatic Sea penetrating deep into the European territory and its navigation characteristics make the Adriatic ports very attractive for transit of goods from Central and South-East Europe. The seaports along the Adriatic coast, and especially the port of Rijeka, have become even more attractive after the upgrading of Croatian transport network which ling Croatian ports with transport network in Slovenia, Austria and Hungary. The port of Ploče is important for the transport of goods into the Bosnia and Herzegovina. Distance to Port Said= 1023 Nautical Miles to Gibraltar= 1390 Nautical Miles

25 Major on going projects
Large investment projects in ports Rijeka Gateway Zadar - Gaženica Ploče - container and bulk terminal Dubrovnik - operative coast Šibenik – operative coast TOTAL: 499,5 mil EUR All investments are financed by the State budget, as well as the loans from the World bank and European bank which are supported by the state guarantee Currently the investments into the seaport infrastructure amounts to 499,5 mil €. The whole sum is secure from the national budget, namely World bank and European Investment Bank loans for which the state gives guarantees.

26 Port Development Port of Rijeka Rijeka Gateway Project:
Construction of container, passanger and Ro-Ro terminal EUR 190 million (IBRD loan EUR 160 million) Porto Baross - Urban port interface - Tender for developer: 2010/2011 Zagreb container terminal - Tender for concesion: 2010/2011 - World Bank – 1st phase - Public Private Partnership – 2nd phase Container terminal Brajdica Rijeka Gateway: The realisation of this project will create conditions for further development of freight and passenger transportation in the port of Rijeka.

27 Port Development Port of Ploče
- Trade and Transport Integration Project - construction of bulk cargo and container terminals Total of the project: EUR 90 million (EUR 58,8 million IBRD and EUR 11,2 EBRD loan) - Tender for concesion:2011/2012 Port of Zadar Gaženica Project: Construction of a new passenger, container and Ro-Ro terminal - Total of the project: EUR 236 million (EUR 120 million KfW, EUR 100 million EIB) Public Tender for concesion:2012 and 2014 Port of Šibenik Construction of passenger terminal Estimated value: EUR 12 million Tender for concesion:2012 Ploče: With the construction of container terminal in the port of Ploče, the operational area will increase by 12 hectare and 300m of berth to receive container ships. The modernisation of this port will be particularly useful for business in countries linked with the Corridor Vc. Zadar: The realisation of this project will remove the pressure of passenger ships on the very historic center of the city of Zadar. It will be a modern passenger port to receive all kinds of passenger and ro-ro ships. The new port area will stretch over square meters with 3000 m long berth. Šibenik: The new terminal will solve the problem of passenger transport and enable receipt of cruisers.

28 Port Development Port of Split
construction of new berths for ferry, roro and cruisers estimated value: EUR 10 million Port of Dubrovnik modernisation and reconstruction of the passenger terminal EBRD loan: EUR 26,5 million Public tender: 2011 SPLIT: With the realisation of this project a larger number berths will be secured in the port of Split to receive ferries and cruisers. DUBROVNIK: The realisation of this project will secure a new passenger terminal and a new port area of square meters for reception of cruisers and simltaneous boarding of passengers.

29 Zagreb Airport – New Passenger Terminal
The new passenger terminal building (NPT) is planned for the total capacity of about 5 million passengers per year. Total cost of the new terminal covering square meters amount to 221 mil €.  The project is envisaged as public-private partnership between the Republic of Croatia and the best bidder who will get concession based on the international public bidding. The concession will be given for the period of 30 years. The financial construction wil be finalised by end of 2011 and the works will begin in the first half of The construction period is 3 years. Capacity 5 mln passengers m2 cca 300 mln EUR Decision of the financing model (PPP)

30 Road tunnels Road tunnels are built on motorways and some state roads.
In the Republic of Croatia 81 road tunnels were constructed with the total of 113 tunnel pipes, all together ,00 m long, while currently another m of tunnels is being constructed. It is also planned to build m of tunnels in the near future. The tunnels are built on the motorways A1, A2, A4, A6, A7 and on some state roads. Some tunnels have got the EURO TAP award: Plasina : Third place, 2005 Grič : Second place, 2006 Mala Kapela : Third place, 2006 Brinje : First place, 2007 Tuhobić: Second place, 2009 Sveti Rok: Third place, 2010 Road tunnels are built on motorways and some state roads. Total number of tunnels is 81 and total length is over 95,4 km.

31 Road tunnels Total length of tunnel tube will be 185 m and the whole tunnel building (including tunnel portal slopes and cuts) will be 325 m long. Works on tunnel will start this week and breaktrough should be in 3 months to allow passage. After that works will be suspended until the end of the turist season.   Rest of the tunnel works and the project should be finished in the next two months after the turist season. On the state road between motorway A1 and state road D8 a new tunnel will be built near Stupica. Total length of tunnel will be 185 m and it should be finished in 3 months.

32 Railroad tunnels On the future railway section from Karlovac to Krasica it is planned to build 10 tunnels in the total length of 49,48 km' of which the longest tunnel is 14,4 km long. On the section from Krasica to Krk it is planned to build 5 tunnels in the total length of 10,57 km. On the Rijeka junction it is planned to build 9 tunnels in the total length of 23,9 km. The longest tunnel is Učka, 12,1 km long. Total number of railroad tunnels is 109 and total length is over 29,6 km
