Personal Backgrounds *When Columbus was 15 years old he became a sailor. Columbus was born in 1451 in Genoa, coast of Italy. In 1490 Columbus got married to Felipa Perestrello e Moniz. They had 1 son named Diego. Columbus lived in Azores. Columbus’s real name is Christoforo Columbo. This is Columbus

Dates and Routes Columbus left for his first journey on August 3, 1492 and came back on October 12, 1493. * Columbus's 2 nd journey was from 1493-1496. this time he had 17 ships and 1200crew members. He explored Cuba, Jamaica, Guadeloupe, and Puertorico. Juan Ponce de Leon went with him on his 2 nd journey. In 1477 Columbus went north on a ship bound for Ireland, England and Iceland. Columbus's 1 st journey.

3 rd and 4 th Routes and Dates 1498-1500 is another journey Columbus took. Columbus’s final journey was from 1502-1504. Columbus’s 4 th journey.

Death *November 1504 Columbus Went back to Spain and he was very ill. *On May 19 th 1506 Columbus died, 13 years after his 1 st journey. *Columbus lived to 55 years. This is Columbus when he is very ill.

Why Are We Still Talking About Him Columbus discovered America and he discovered the world wasn’t flat. This is what Columbus discovered, that the world isn’t flat.

Interesting Facts *Columbus got most of the credit for discovering America. Columbus Went to America with 3 ships. The Nina, Pinta, and the Santa Maria. The Nina ship was Captained by Vincete Yanez Pinzon. Pinta’s the ship was captained by Martin Alonzo Pinzon Columbus was inspired by Marco Polo These are the ships Columbus sailed on.

More Interesting Facts Columbus Captained the Santa Maria. Columbus hade 90 crew members. When Columbus was 25 years old he had been to sea 6 times. Once Columbus was not lucky because his ship sank! He was lucky because his brother (Bartholomew) was a map maker in near by Lisbon. Columbus eventually went into his brothers business too. This is the Santa Maria Ship.
