Introduction  He was born in 1460 in Sines, Portugal. He started exploring in 1497 and ended in 1524 when he died. The king of Portugal, John 2 nd sent him out on the exploration. He also sent him out to 3 more explorations and to do the same thing. The Goal was to find a direct route from Europe to India around Africa.

Exploration  He got to India and saw the ancient Indians, Persians, Arabs, Turks, and Mogols. He went back to Portugal and became the first European to sail around Africa and get to India. On his 3 rd exploration to India he got ill and died. Now he has a statue of him in Europe.

Map  Vasco da Gama’s journey was to find a direct route from Europe to India around Africa

Conclusion and reflection  I learned that the first Indians were the Persians, Arabs, Turks, and the Mogols. He could’ve been more famous than Christopher Columbus in Europe. What I found interesting about him was that he got sent out by the king to find a direct route around Africa to India. Also, that he got sent out a lot more times to do the same thing and died during one trip. Finally, that there’s a statue named after him in Europe.

Conclusion and reflection con.  The things that are named after him are a statue in Europe, a bridge called Vasco da Gama bridge, there is a crater named after him on the moon, he has a park, and a tower.  Fun facts about him Originally Vasco’s father was supposed to go and it was delayed so the exploration was passed down to him. He had six sons and one daughter and his second son was the Portuguese governor
