2  The American alligator can be 18 feet long.  The American alligator can weigh between 450-600 lbs.  The American alligator can be green.

3  The American alligator can live to be around 35-50 years old in the wild.  The American alligator can live to be around 60-80 years old in captivity.

4  The American alligator is a carnivore. They eat fish, turtles, mammals, birds, and reptiles.

5  There are 5 million American alligators in the southeastern United States. Of these, 1.25 million live in Florida.

6  They live in Florida, Texas, Louisiana, North and South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama.

7  Jaws  Tail  Camouflage  Their jaws help them kill their prey.  Their strong spiked tail helps them knock over their prey.  Their camouflage help them blind in with logs and sticks.

8  The male alligator bellows loudly to attract males and warn off other males.  Smaller alligators can often be found in large numbers.

9  The male alligators and the fell males lose their habitat.
