1 Abraham Lincoln childhood and career

2 Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12th 1809. He lived in a logged cabin with his dad Thomas, his mom Nancy, sister Sahara, and brother Thomas that had died in 1812. Lincoln’s family lived in Kentucky as a poor family

3 His dad was a pioneer or a farmer. In 1817 Lincoln's dad moved the family to Indiana. When Abraham was nine his mother died of milk sickness.

4 When Abraham's mom died, his dad got a new wife named Sarah Bush Johnston. She was born in Kentucky with three children of her own. Abraham quickly bonded with her. She encouraged Lincoln how to read. When he got older he soon loved to read. He will walk more then a mile to barrow or get a book. 1828 Lincoln’s sister died

5 in march 1830, he moved to Illinois. He was 22 years old and was six feet tall. He made a living In cutting wood. He was really good with an ax.

6 Then Lincoln moved to a small city called New Salmen in Illinois. He worked as shopkeeper, postmaster, and a general store owner.

7 In 1834 he was elected to the Illinois state legislature as a member of a Whig party. He supported the Whig politics of government sponsored. This political led him to formulate his early views on slavery.

8 Then he became a lawyer and moved to Springfield Illinois.
