The text on your slides should be easy for the audience to read. This is best done by choosing a simple layout design and a font that contrasts with the background. A good font size is 24 DO NOT make a picture your background.
3
You don’t just want to throw paragraphs of information onto each slide Bullet points are a good tool to use to highlight your main points You want to limit each slide to 4-6 bullet points You will fill in the gaps with your speech It is ok to have notecards to remind you of points you want to make
4
It is ok to include pictures, but make sure they are important to your topic and presentation Clipart is worthless. It adds nothing to a presentation.
5
Just like your essay, the job of your speech is to persuade the audience You want to try and “hook” your audience in the beginning End your presentation with a memorable line that brings your presentation to a close
6
DO maintain eye contact with your audience DON’T just read off the screen DO engage your audience with important points on the slides DON’T just copy and paste your essay onto the slides DO use the animation and features of Powerpoint DON’T overdo it. Animations can become cumbersome to your presentation
