Location Originally built on the outskirts of Rome, in a low part of the Campus Martius Destroyed by flooding soon after creation, knocked down and smashed First fragments discovered in 16 th century, more later discovered in 19 th century Benito Mussolini ordered the recovery and reconstruction of fragments, near the founding site Currently in the Piazza Augusto Imperatore, designed by Mussolini
