Lifestyle Requirements Different cultures have very different lifestyles. –In many places in Europe a Sabbatical is the norm while in the United States it is highly unusual to have more than a week or two off at any given time. –Holidays while some are universally recognized there are some that are not, but still must be addressed.

Language Requirements Different parts of the world speak different languages or dialects of the same language Different governments require the use of different languages Globalization of a company must meet these standards based on need and local laws.

Holiday Requirements (PTO) Different countries have different holidays. This can determine how PTO is assigned out as well as what holiday are available vs governmentally required. To operate globally we must work around different requirements. Examples: –Us does not have any mandatory holidays –China has mandatory holidays.

Equal Opportunity Laws Laws in the United States as well as various other countries have Equal Opportunity laws that require employers not to discriminate based on sex, color, religion, and sometimes nationality. In a global market these laws can dictate how a company hires employees. Example: –Dublin will not allow an employee to fill a spot within the country unless it can be proved that no one else (besides the international employee) can fill the job requirements.

Diversity Diversity is all around us, and can be seen in all of the examples provided. –Culture –Language –Learning –Holidays –Etc
