2. The subject and the verb in a sentence need to agree or go together correctly. One boy plays basketball. Four boys play basketball.

3. If the subject is singular (only one), the present-tense verb has an –s or –es. Dad walks me to my car. Grandpa watches my game. The door slams shut.

4. Do not add –s or –es to a present-tense verb that tells about a plural (more than one) subject. Children work hard at school. The turtles swim in the pond. The boys run fast.
