2 Aim:  To share practical experience and learning from a number of community needs assessment projects undertaken locally; using a participatory approach.

3 Scenario Background  South Asians have a higher relative risk of CVD  Tackling risk factors in the general population is up to 3 times more effective in preventing deaths than concentrating on people with established heart disease.  Physical Activity levels are lower among South Asian communities then the general population.

4 Task  Develop a needs assessment framework to ascertain views of the South Asian community around physical activity; with a view to developing appropriate responses to increase physical activity levels.

5 Task Describe the approach to be taken, specifically in relation to:  Which HNA tool & why.  What specific issues would you take into consideration.  Identify key barriers and how you would seek to over come them.
