2 Children Index The East Sussex Children Index is… an online tool to improve communication between people who work with children A database which brings together basic information about all children and young people A way to find out who else is working with a child, and his or her family I want to know more about the Children Index Next slide

3 Common Assessment Framework is… A partnership approach A common way to gather information about strengths and needs of a child A shared planning tool to enable people to work together, and avoid duplication Used by practitioners across children’s services A way to work out, with the family, what should be done to meet a child’s needs and who should be the Lead Professional One Child – One Plan I want to know more about CAF and the Lead Professional Next slide

4 What next? This tool has been developed to help you to decide if you need access to the Children Index, and if you need to attend CAF training. Find out who else is working with a child or young person? Find out who has done a CAF or is the Lead Professional for a child or young person? Work with other agencies to support children and young people when you can’t meet all a child’s needs within your service? Make or receive referrals to other children’s services? Contact the ISA team if you want to know where you can find out more. If you think someone else in your team, school or service may be the right person to attend CAF training, please pass this link on to them

11 Yes you should book onto a CAF training session Even if you think you are not going to be using the CAF assessment with families very often, you should book onto CAF training to ensure you know what to do if someone calls you to say they are a Lead Professional for a child you are working with, or asks you to be a part of a CAF plan.
