Apprenticeship Progression – What We Mean Supporting individuals on the basis of their ability, aspiration and frequently with reference to employer need, progress to the next level/new job role and/or a higher education or higher level learning programme. Linear and non-linear Horizontal as well as vertical Prescribed HE qualifications (e.g. Foundation and Bachelors degrees), non-prescribed HE and professional qualifications.

Progression is Important for Government BIS commissioned the University of Greenwich tracking study – Progression of Apprentices to Higher Education – Cohort Update – due April 2014 (commitment to a further study in 2015) BIS have commissioned a tracking study of progression from the whole of FE into higher education BIS proposal to track back from HE, via FE to the national pupil data base (NPDB) to show progression over time into the HE system
