Conclusion A significant minority of people surveyed do not think it matters much if a species becomes extinct. This issue needs to be addressed in our educational and marketing campaigns. All age groups, but particularly the Under 18s, need to be made more aware of the decline in species in our own country – e.g. several species of birds are showing an alarming decline in numbers.
