Lesson Objectives… 1)Understand what you will need to do for section on your controlled assessment. 2)Collect and collate your information for your controlled assessment.

UNIT B454 CW You have been given the guidelines for your next controlled assessment. Read the 1 st paragraph.

UNIT B454 CW Define the words Skill Special ability in a task, sport, etc., esp ability acquired by training. Technique The way in which a (usually skilled) process is, or should be, carried out.

UNIT B454 CW Training methods……. Can you remember any possible types of training or principles of training?

UNIT B454 CW Types of training – Circuit training Circuit training Weight training Weight training Plyometrics Plyometrics Flexibility training Flexibility training Continuous training Continuous training Fartlek Fartlek Interval training Interval training Do you know the difference between each type of training?

UNIT B454 CW Principles of training….. Overload Overload Specificity Specificity Progression Progression Reversibility Reversibility What acronym is used to help you memorise these???

UNIT B454 CW Principles of training…. Frequency Frequency Intensity Intensity Time Time Type Type Can you describe each part of the FITT acronym?

UNIT B454 CW Your controlled assessment Section/Paragraph 1 Overview of the recorded footage you are using. Very similar to the previous CW where you will just rewrite your data.

P1 example…… I have decided to analyse the strengths and weaknesses of Tom Watkins. He is a 16 year old male. He is 168cm tall and weighs 60kg. He is relatively fit and exercises regularly and really enjoys taking part in sport. The sport in which I have chosen to analyse his skill and technique is basketball. His predominant position when he plays in competitive matches is as a guard. His position means that he is responsible for setting up attacking plays by keeping control of the ball and passing it to his team-mates who are in a point scoring position. He has only been playing basketball regularly for 2 years. He trains once a week for around an hour and plays one competitive match a week which usually lasts for 40 minutes.

UNIT B454 CW Now you must write your own….. You can write it on yourself or somebody else. Again I would recommend that you choose someone with lots of things to improve to make it easier.

Plenary….. You have now produced your first paragraph for your controlled assessment. It is important that you begin to remember this section – I will mark it and give it you back next lesson.

Homework… Create a list of 6 skill factors and 4 components of fitness that are related to your sport. C.O.F = Having good agility in cricket is important so that you can change direction quickly and under control when you are fielding and you are required to stop or catch the ball. Skill factor = Being able to catch the ball when it comes to you. Any other factors that you can think of that are related to cricket?
