3 Phase 1 – Emerging themes from regional workshops  impact of the economic downturn  the challenges of taking a strategic and planned approach  demonstrating impact and outcomes  safeguarding issues

4 Phase 2 – Making the business case Consider  strategic support, including elected member ‘buy in’  wider stakeholder support including the third sector  clarity of outcomes, especially multiple outcomes  impact on resource allocation especially vfm, ‘more for less’  how to involve different departments/organisations  ‘fit’ with localism and the Big Society  evaluation and legacy

5 Where next? IP Peer Review and Support Programme Outcomes for the host authority would include:  a light touch’ external assessment  showcasing and sharing good practice, challenges and barriers  a strengthened business case  summary report of the Review, with recommendation

6 Where next? IP Peer Review and Support Programme Outcomes for the review team would include:  increased understanding of ‘what works and why’  opportunity to shape the views of colleagues and partners  examination of outcomes and impact  shaping a benchmarking tool for self-assessment

7 IP Peer Review and Support Programme Potential themes and topics  commissioning IP to deliver health outcomes  addressing social exclusion through IP  working with vulnerable people and addressing intergenerational dimensions of poverty  intergenerational volunteering with reference to people with disability  the role of scrutiny in promoting IP
