CONTEXT Current external Higher Education and economic context A restructure of the Senior Management Team individual responsibilities General Modular Scheme Review FOCUS FOR THE UNIVERSITY 2015 – 2020 Remain broad based Remain multi faculty and multi subject Delivery of partnerships will be central to future operating models

STRATEGIC PLAN THEMES The following key themes inform the Strategic Planning consultation process and will shape the overarching academic framework for the Strategy: Strategic Themes Will inform the focus of future University activity Undergraduate provision Postgraduate provision The Student Experience Research and Knowledge Exchange Enabling Themes Inform all Strategic themes and will support activity moving forwards The Staff Experience Sustainability Internationalisation

STRATEGIC PLAN FRAMEWORK – 2015 - 2020
the Strategic Plan will form a two page Framework and be underpinned by an Operational Plan the Operational Plan will closely link with the Business planning process which will be on a three year cycle from the Values set out in the Strategic Plan will be reviewed, updated and incorporated into the new Strategic Plan the Plan will include a brief Mission/Vision Statement

Consultation Process (January to April 2014) Senior Management Team Management Group including the Students’ Union University Committees of the Governing Body and Academic Board Academic Staff Forum External Stakeholders Other internal forums The consultation process has informed the development of the key Strategic Themes and Enabling Themes to be discussed today. Consultation Process (Late April to May 2014) Staff Conference including the Students’ Union Various Staff and Student forums

Formalisation and implementation of Strategic Plan
Governing Body/Senior Management Team Event – 8/9 May 2014 Identification and agreement of Strategic Framework document – informed by the internal and external consultation process including the outcomes from the Staff Conference May and June 2014 Further consultation and finalisation of the Strategic Framework Formal approval of the Strategic Framework document by Governing Body – 24 June 2014 July 2014 – March 2015 Alignment of Operating Plan to inform future three year Business Planning process Implementation of Strategic Plan - early Spring 2015
