6 EI Reporting HRSDC requires earnings and hours to be reported weekly, commencing Sundays: In this case: Week 1: November 30 – December 6 (4 out of 11 days worked) Week 2: December 7 - December 13 (5 out of 11 days worked) Week 3: December 14 - December 20 (1 out of 11 days worked + + 4 out of 12 days worked) Week 4: December 21 - December 27 (2 out of 12 days worked)

7 EI Allocation of Earnings For EI purposes, the earnings are allocated to each week using the same method (as they are paid) Week 1: $2,248.79 x 4/11 = $ 817.74 + VP 2: $2,248.79 x 5/11 = $1,022.18 + VP 3: $2,248.79 x 1/11 = $ 204.43 $2,248.79 x 4/12 = $ 749.60 954.03 + VP 4: $2,248.79 x 2/12 = $ 374.79 + VP $3,168.74 + VP (vacation pay)

8 Example 2 Employee holds two appointments: Position A: - Appointment dates: January 15 – March 26/09 - Pay period salary calculated as $886.77 + VP Position B: - Appointment dates: January 16 – March 30/09 - Pay period salary calculated as $874.08 + VP

9 Actual Salary Received January 15 th Pay = January 1 – 15 (11 working days) = $886.77 x 1/11 = $80.62 Position A January 31 st Pay = January 16 – 31 (11 working days) = $ 886.77 (Position A) = 874.08 (Position B) $1,760.85 Total salary received: $1,841.46
