Why? Once per year process Update on Audit Interactive Session
4
How Much Do You Remember? How many $ is a regular student worth? The most frustrating error message that Christine deals with is …………. What happens if you cross-enrol a K-9 student into your school? Who claims the student in the following scenario: Joe Brown leaves Noel Booth on 28 Sep and starts at Shortreed on 3 Oct? What do we do with Homeschooled students?
5
Remember – Secondary Are support blocks funded? Which school should mark the student as being in a career ed program? What happens if you cross-enrol a grade 10-12 student? – Types of School – Alternate, Regular, DL, Cont Ed Are adult students funded? – Who would be classified as an adult student? – Graduated Adults
6
Data Quality What is it? Why is it important? Incomplete/inaccurate data wastes time; causes frustration; costs money Examples – ESL student with English as home language – Aboriginal Students need Identification AND Program
7
Audit Reports Schools’ Annual Timetables as at 30 September – Run and store (electronically) – Withdrawn students (Leaving between now and 30 September – print their timetables and FILE)
8
Schools claim only those students enrolled and ATTENDING on 30 September – Ignore absences if the student has been there and is returning – Hospital/homebound - take advice from Special Services – Students in transition should be included – Withdrawn students – where are they going and when are they starting?
9
Adults students can only be claimed for funding if they have met the definition of attendance as defined in the Adult Funding Policy – Any thoughts?
10
Each of the students claimed for Aboriginal Education supplemental funding begin receiving a program/services by 30 Sept
11
Aboriginal Students are provided services in addition to any other programs and services they are entitled to and provide a continuum of substantive learning experiences/support services throughout the school year
12
The district ensures that there is documented evidence demonstrating that additional programs and/or services have been provided
13
Only students that have self-identified can be reported for funding – Aboriginal Support Works will need to help you to check this
14
Schools ensure that Career programs are appropriately identified
15
All designated special needs students have a current IEP on file – New students to the district – if they have a designation advise Special Services
16
Ensure all documentation is appropriately dated
17
START NOW……. PEN verification web 1701 verification process

To conclude: It’s got to be in It’s got to be right It’s got to be defendable
