3. THE FORMULATION An opportunity to “massage” empathy and understanding of the client through recognition of and focus on the underlying issues behind client functioning/behavior

4. SERVICE PLAN To highlight current goals To advocate for particular services

5. PROGNOSIS To focus treatment in a positive direction To add hopefulness and optimism to treament within a realistic context

6. CONTRACTS To clarify treatment directions for all parties To base treatment plan in reality through a clear and concise description of roles and responsibilities To spell out accountability
