4 Community Support Services In Mississauga we offer 4 different Programs: 1. Volunteer Visiting 2. Congregate Dining 3. Transportation – provided for Congregate Dining, Red Cross overflow and Westminster Shopping Bus. 4. Supports for Daily Living (SDL)

5 Who are our Clients? -Seniors 65+ -Adults living with physical disabilities -Socially Isolated and/or Homebound

6 Where do CSS referrals come from? -CCAC -Central Registry -Clients -Friends, and family! -Doctors -OT/PT -Social Workers

7 Peel CSS Page 6 www.von.ca Volunteer Visitors provide companionship to socially isolated seniors and adults living with a disability or seniors who live with chronic mental illness who live in the community. Some activities our volunteers do with their clients: Have a coffee, go for a walk, go shopping, read, or just talk. Volunteers spend approximately 2 hours per week with their client Volunteers help connect clients to the community and the resources available to them VOLUNTEER VISITING

10 Congregate Dining Nutritional lunch program for seniors in Mississauga which encourages socialization in a group setting We serve 7 lunches, 4 days per week The locations that we serve are: Turtle Creek Heritage Glen Westminster Place South Common Caroline Street Volunteers assist with the service delivery by setting tables, serving the meal, clearing dishes and by socializing with the clients.

13 Transportation We currently provide transportation to and from the Congregate Dining program We are partnered with Red Cross to provide rides for their overflow clients We have volunteers that provide transportation for the Congregate Dining program as well as for Volunteer Visiting We have a shopping bus program at Westminster Court that drives clients to and from the grocery store

15 SUPPORTS FOR DAILY LIVING (SDL) Service maximum of 1.5 hours per day Intermittent visits Personal Support Services—washing, bathing, mouth care, hair care and application of non- medicated creams. Light meal assistance, toileting, medication reminders Homemaking Services—Light housekeeping

16 VOLUNTEER RETENTION Specialized training (Mental Health, Dementia, Parkinson, CNIB, MS) Social Activities (Summer BBQ, Potlucks, Pole walking, Christmas Party) Annual Volunteer Appreciation Workshop Certificates
