The Scope and Sequence of Secondary RE Content
2
Scope and Sequence?
3
Scope The breadth and depth of content to be covered in a curriculum at any one time (e.g. week, term, year, over a student’s school life).
4
Sequence The order in which content is presented to learners over time. The order in which you do it.
5
Scope and Sequence? Together a scope and sequence of learning bring order to the delivery of content, supporting the maximising of student learning and offering sustained opportunities for learning. Without a considered scope and sequence there is the risk of ad hoc content delivery and the missing of significant learning.
6
Naming the Content Highlight a familiar key word or topic from the Year 12 Catholic content (one KU and/or LP) Mark with a highlighter where this has been covered in some way in previous units/years
7
Sequencing the Content How has this content been addressed in each of the places you have found? Record the unit and any key page references from the resources provided
8
The Scope of the Content Write a summary statement that describes how this content is approached across Years 8 - 12. The statement needs to identify what is common and what is distinctive.
9
Reflection and Review What are some other related skills, terms, ideas and/or concepts essential for developing an understanding of this content? Where can you locate these? Refine your statement
