Introduction Definition of Building Drying. Why dry the building? What does building drying involve? Who should dry the building? 2 Building Drying Projects. Summary. Drizair (QLD) P/L ABN: 59 067 074 953 Aug 2009

Definition – ‘Building Drying’ Building Drying is the mechanical removal of abnormal moisture from building structural materials within the building envelope, so that their normal Equilibrium Moisture Content (EMC) for that environment is achieved. Drying of flooring – concrete sub flooring, tiled floors & wood flooring. Drying of walls including wood framing, gyprock, block & brick walls. Drying of cavities – within kitchens, vanities, built-in storage & more. Drizair (QLD) P/L ABN: 59 067 074 953 Aug 2009

Why dry the building? The removal of abnormal moisture prevents: Secondary damage  Degradation of materials  Mould & related health issues Expensive replacement & rebuilding costs Expensive Business interruption Lessens inconvenience to building occupants Drizair (QLD) P/L ABN: 59 067 074 953 Aug 2009

What does building drying involve? Initial Mitigation Inspection & Report Drying plan with consideration for occupants Installation & Monitoring Job Completion Drizair (QLD) P/L ABN: 59 067 074 953 Aug 2009

Initial Mitigation Initial mitigation could include: Engage carpet cleaner to remove excess water Engage clean up crew Removal of mud/silt Removal of contaminated/damaged contents Removal of wall linings, carpeting, flooring, & cabinetry. Related hygiene requirements Drizair (QLD) P/L ABN: 59 067 074 953 Aug 2009

Inspection & Report Building Inspection - Should be carried out in every situation as a minimum standard. Seeking visible signs of moisture using Thermal imaging (infrared camera). Drizair (QLD) P/L ABN: 59 067 074 953 Aug 2009

Inspection & Report Drizair (QLD) P/L ABN: 59 067 074 953 Aug 2009 Testing for moisture content - Penetrating & non- penetrating calibrated moisture meters. Specific Meters, Moisture Probes, Boroscopes.

Installation & Monitoring Drizair (QLD) P/L ABN: 59 067 074 953 Aug 2009

Job completion When the building materials are dry, we: Pack up. Produce Drying Certificate & Sanitation Certificate. Engage further services where required, e.g. Carpet & upholstery cleaning, tile cleaning. Drizair (QLD) P/L ABN: 59 067 074 953 Aug 2009

Who should dry the building? Experienced & Qualified technicians with: the right building inspection tools & moisture detection instruments. the ability to interpret readings relating to that particular building envelope. an extensive inventory of drying equipment to be equipped appropriately for any job. an understanding of clients needs.
