7 PACFA Supervision Training Standards How QCA standards reflect PACFA requirements – Register of accredited QCA supervisors – Supervisory contracts (see p. 3 of PACFA Supervision TS 2012 for competencies of Supervisor) Includes focus on PD (view PD log) Includes awareness of Ethics – Adequate Professional Indemnity cover – View Client contact log: preparation for supervision, + creates evidence of client hours for supervisor – View Supervision log + related client contact hours

8 Counsellor requirements Affiliate – Coursework conforming to PACFA TS – Supervision log: min 40 Client contact hrs + min 10 related supervision hours as part of training course. Retain log. – Supervision: one-to-one or group acceptable – Group size – mostly 6, can be bigger (see PACFA TS p.6 4.2.2 for more detail) – All group hours can count – NO other client work: contravenes Ethical Code!

9 Counsellor requirements Associate -Client load needed: PACFA TS “trainee” so F2F preferred -Tel and internet limitations – seek more information -Supervision: 1 hour: 30 client contact hrs recommended, more for beginning practitioners, minimum 10 hrs p.a. -Supervision logs: accrue 200 client contact hrs (both during & immediately after coursework) linked to 50 hrs supervision NEW: min 60% individual (1:1) supervision required -Adequate Prof Indemnity, PD Log: min 15 hrs interactive -NB Get supervisor report(s) when changing supervisor, view

10 Counsellor requirements Provisional -List on PACFA register - recommended -Tel and internet client hours: seek more information -Supervision: 1 hr supervision: 30 hrs client contact recommended, min 10 hours p.a. -Supervision logs: accrue further 750 client contact hours linked to 75 hours supervision -NEW : min 60% individual (1:1) supervision required -Adequate Prof Indemnity, PD Log: min 15 hrs interactive -NB Get supervisor report(s) when changing supervisor View

11 Counsellor requirements Clinical -Membership level appropriate for private practice -Listing on PACFA register recommended -Telephone, internet client hours: generally 25 % but check for more information -Supervision: minimum 10 hours p.a. -Supervision logs: supervisor training possible after 3 years -Adequate Prof Indemnity cover + Annual PD log ( min 15 hrs interactive) -Peer Sup: after 5 years at clinical level, PACFA proposal 50%

13 PACFA Supervisor Accreditation Accredited Training Pathway – Eligibility for training: min 3 years at clinical level – Training: 39 course hours over min 6 months + 10 hours supervisor practice – Practice: 50 hours supervisor practice over min 2 years post supervision training

14 PACFA Supervisor Accreditation Transition Pathway – Evidence of 50 hours practice as supervisor over minimum of 2 years – Evidence of min 10 hours supervision on supervision – Evidence of min 20 hours training or PD in supervision – Apportioned documentary evidence 10 hours p.a.

15 PACFA Supervisor Accreditation Future NEW Annual requirements – Annual apportionment: 2011/12 start accruing evidence in Supervision logs (view client log) – Supervision for clinical practice – Supervision for supervisor role – Supervision for group leadership role – Professional Development for each focus
