2 United in Integrity, Pride and Mental Toughness KICK OFF AND DROP OUT Section 8 The Kick Off and Drop Out Law 4 A Drop-out from Goal line The game is restarted with a drop-out by a Goal line defending player from the centre of his goal line if: (a) a defending player last touches the ball before it goes over the dead ball line or into touch in-goal.

A player who kicks off or drops-out shall be penalised if he:– (b) kicks the ball on the full over the touch line, touch in-goal, or over the dead ball line.

4 United in Integrity, Pride and Mental Toughness STRADDLE Section 9 Touch and Touch-In Goal Notes 1 Ball Dead Where the ball which is stationary in the field of play or the In-goal area comes in contact with a player in touch, touch in- goal or over the dead ball line, the ball is deemed to have been made dead by that player.

5 United in Integrity, Pride and Mental Toughness STRADDLE Section 9 Touch and Touch-In Goal Notes 1 Dead Ball Line Restarts Should a kick be made dead by a defending player straddling the dead ball line or touch in-goal line, play will restart with a goal line drop-out.

6 United in Integrity, Pride and Mental Toughness 10 20 TO STRADDLE OR NOT TO STRADDLE? The scenarios as described hereafter are based on the intersection of:  Goal line  Touch in goal line  Touch line Note:- Each scenario equally applies to the dead ball line.

7 United in Integrity, Pride and Mental Toughness  Imagine there is a pane of glass that stands upright and extends indefinitely upwards from the touch in goal line, between the corner post and the dead ball line.

9 United in Integrity, Pride and Mental Toughness SCENARIO  Ball caught on the full  Catcher standing outside the playing field  Ball crossed the touch in goal line RESULT  Ball touch-in goal  20m Optional Kick VARIABLE  If ball is dropped, result is the same

10 United in Integrity, Pride and Mental Toughness SCENARIO  Ball caught on the full  Catcher standing with one foot in goal and one foot in touch in goal RESULT  Bomb diffused  20m Optional Kick VARIABLES  If catcher does not play at the ball, result is the same  If ball is dropped, result is goal line drop out (Straddle)
