Nomenclature For viruses - common names are used e. g. Polio virus, HIV, Influenza virus For parasites – Either binomial or common names are used e.g. Round worm, Ascaris lumbricoides, A. lumbricoides Dog tape worm, Echinococcus granulosus, E. granulosus
