Cellular Reproduction

Mitosi s I – Interphase: Period between division DNA molecules duplicate Single strands (chromatin threads) X shaped chromosomes P – Prophase: Centrioles move to opposite ends creating spindle in between Nuclear membrane disappears Chromosomes shorten and thicken M – Metaphase: Chromosomes line up along centre of spindle
3
Mitosi s A – Anaphase: Chromatids separate at centromere with aid of spindle T- Telophase: Nuclear membrane forms around newly formed nucleus Cytoplasm divides (Cytokinesis)
4
Meios is P 1 : Chromosomes visible as long threads shrink then thicken & spindle forms M 1 : Chromosome pairs arrange on spindle at centre A 1 : Pairs break up, chromatids remain intact T 1 : Cytoplasm divides P 2 : see P 1 M 2 : Individual chromosomes arrange on spindle at centre A 2 : Chromosomes break up at centromere into two chromatids T 2 : see T 1
