Stereotype or Prejudice ? In September 2005, during a benefit concert for Hurricane Katrina relief on NBC, Kanye West deviated from his prepared script. While his co-presenter, Mike Myers, continued to read the script, this is what happened…

West said " George Bush doesn't care about black people." The telethon producer cut off the microphone and cut away to Chris Tucker. Still, West's comment reached much of the United States. President Bush stated in an interview that the comment was " one of the most disgusting moments ” of his presidency.

Racism – the belief that a person’s abilities, personality, and values are influenced by race, colour or ethnic origin.

It is an action based upon stereotypes that view all members of a racial, ethnic or cultural group as being the same. It is the mistaken belief that one group is superior to another, and is often the cause of discrimination by organizations, institutions and individuals.
