What is an adjective? It´s a word that gives information about a noun. A noun is the name of a person, thing or animal.

They answer the questions what kind? or how many?

There are three degrees :
Degrees of adjectives There are three degrees : -Positive: The car is fast. (no comparison here) Comparative: My car is faster than yours.(for comparing two nouns ) -Superlative: My car is the fastest of all (for comparing three or more nouns)

-Comparative degree Examples: tall taller low lower
-Add the suffix –er to one-syllable adjectives Examples: tall taller low lower smart smarter Add the suffix –er to two -syllable adjectives ending with ´y´. But first drop the ´y´, change it to ´i´ and then add –er . Examples: busy busier angry angrier easy easier

Use the word ´´more´´ for two or more than two-syllable adjectives
Examples: More modern More beautiful More convenient More expensive

Sample sentences For the comparative degree:
Johny is taller than Peter. Grammar is easier than Math. BMW cars are more expensive than Toyotas.

Using the superlative degree (comparing three or more nouns)
Add the suffix -est to one–syllable adjectives Examples: Slow slowest Fast fastest Cheap cheapest

Add the suffix –est to two syllable adjectives ending with ´y´ First drop the ´y´, change it to ´i´ and then add –est Examples: sticky stickiest pretty prettiest heavy heaviest

SPECIAL FORMS Some adjectives do not follow any of the rules already explained before. They simply have their own form. Examples: Positive Comparative Superlative good better best bad worse worst
