11 The Presidential Box Ford’s Theatre Peterson House: The House Where Lincoln Died Bust of Lincoln On April 14, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln was mortally shot by John Wilkes Booth while attending a play in Ford’s Theatre. Lincoln passed away across the street inside Peterson’s Boarding House.
