What is he Known for? Walter is known for being a civil rights activist. In 1918, Walter joined the small national staff of the National Association for the advancement for the colored people. This is located in New York. This took place because of the invitation of James Weldon Johnson. Walter become the leader of the organization from 1931 to 1955.

What did Walter do in the Organization? Walter had to oversee the plans and organization structure of the fight against public separation between people. Walter also worked with president Truman on segregation in the Armed Forces after the Second World War. President Truman

What was his education? Walter went to an Africans Americans School because he was considered one and he would pass off as a white person and this helped him acquire him to find information about Ku Klux Clan. He worked in an organization so that he could fight against racism and the fights.

What did he do that influenced our society today? Walter influenced us today because he pressed for the U.S. Fair Employment Practices Committee that would try to ban discrimination in the government and wartime industry.
