Circumstances (Why it happened) Sherman wanted the ridge called “Bald Hill” and ordered Mortimer Leggett to take the hill.

The march to victory!! General William Tecumseh Sherman marched with his troops to Atlanta,Georgia.

The Battle General Sherman attacked Atlanta on July 22.

The Raging Battle During the fighting the Union troops pulled back across a wide front. A gap in the lines misled Union General James McPherson, into a group of Confederate soldiers. Realizing his mistake, he reversed his direction and rode of with a gallop.

Interesting Facts o The Battle of Atlanta was one of the bloodiest battles of the civil war. o The Battle of Atlanta was before Sherman’s March. o They formed a semi-circle around the north and east of the Georgia City. o The Battle of Atlanta lasted one month.
