Try to make friends with other international students, they may understand what you are feeling. Make friends with home students, they can help you find out about living here. 8 Culture Shock and its effects What is it like to move to a different culture? What are the essentials of your travel bag? What will give you a sense of connection with home? Leaving home and coming to a different country can be stressful, this is normal. There is a great deal of loss-family, friends, familiar sights, people who you usually turn to for support and guidance.

9 Learning to adapt to differences-climate, food, language, social behaviour, which can feel exhausting. Understanding obvious physical differences as well as hidden differences, values, social norms, which is confusing. Beginning a new demanding course of study, which may be in a different language.
