Role of the External Examiner Code of Practice 6 (31-44) To report on the standards of student performance (6: 31) … on the comparability of the standards with those of similar programmes in other UK Higher Education institutions (6: 31) Approve all draft degree examination papers (6: 35) Moderate an agreed proportion of the candidates’ written work (6: 37) borderline? mid-range? … enough evidence to determine that marking is of an appropriate standard and is consistent (6: 37) Not to act as a second or third marker
