The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HASAW) EMPLOYERS Employer’s must, as far as reasonably practicable, safeguard the health, safety and welfare of employees.

Individual Responsibility Every EMPLOYEE has a duty to: take reasonable care for their own health & safety have consideration for the health & safety of others not to interfere / misuse anything provided for health & safety reasons report any serious risk to health & safety

INDUCTION General Training – relating to the organisation, including values and philosophy as well as structure and history etc. Mandatory Training – relating to health and safety and other essential or legal areas. Job Training – relating to the role that the new starter will be performing.

REMEMBER You can make a difference by reporting health & safety issues… inform your manager or person in charge of the area or contact your department safety co-ordinator
