www.st-andrews.ac.uk Postgraduate Academic Information Masters programmes: 9 months + 3 months for thesis (September until the following August) Programmes are very intensive with specific outcomes Research Programmes (PhD): 3 to 4 years, leading to Doctorate Thesis topics are discussed with your supervisor 1700 postgraduate students in total Extra funding available for PhD students

www.st-andrews.ac.uk Entry requirements International entry qualifications are listed on the ‘World Map’ on our website A detailed transcript is required from each applicant Evidence of English. Eg. band 7.0 overall in IELTS 2 references, normally from academic staff A copy of your CV Statement of purpose/examples of written work

www.st-andrews.ac.uk When to apply Early application is advised (up to one year in advance) Most programmes start in September each year Some Schools have separate & earlier deadlines (Eg. IR is in mid-March each year) All applications are completed online and sent directly to us

www.st-andrews.ac.uk Costs to be aware of: No application fee Tuition Fees = £14,000 to £17,500 depending on the programme Accommodation & subsistence = £7,500 to £12,500 approximately Total cost = £21,500 to £30,000 per year Why are the fees at this level? Ivy League standard education (15% of our students are from the US which proves this!) Quality of education and way of life Desirable location

www.st-andrews.ac.uk Visas and Working in the UK All UK institutions follow the same immigration rules from the UKBA www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/ www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/ UK visa rules are different this year and might change again soon. Keep checking! Part-time work is still allowed – up to 20 hours per week Post study work is available. The time given to search for work has shortened and a minimum salary (£21k p.a.) rule now applies

Temperate climate – no real extremes in winter or summer Biggest change: long summer days & short winter days The UK is very small indeed: easy to explore UK & Europe We’re 1 or 2 flights (max.15 hours) away from most countries There are some strong regional accents in certain areas!
