Change your CV for every placement Read the placement specification and change your CV to highlight the points they are looking for. What skills have you gained hat they are looking for? Highlight these. Also do the same in the covering letter. It is very easy to see if you are just sending the same CV out to multiple placements. Do:

Think it is obvious you are brilliant because you get good marks What skills do you have Write long paragraphs. 4 lines is long, 5 is too long, 6 is boring Remember they may have to read 40 CV’s Don’t

Create a CV and covering letter No more than 3 pages in total Email to ch-yi@sheffield.ac.uk Email to ch-yi@sheffield.ac.uk By 8 th June I will then send all of the CV’s back to you with the rating form (from Careers Web site) You need to grade the CV’s (Create a Top 10 only) Fill in the form, with constructive comments on ALL CVs and return these in the post to me by 1 st September. Hopefully this will let you see what the placement selector sees. Next steps
