1 Exponential Regression

2 Copy the table below your notebook and then graph the points
Week Weight 50 1 38 2 30 3 25 4 22 5 20

3 Find an exponential function to fit the data.
Week Weight 50 1 38 2 30 3 25 4 22 5 20 38÷50=0.76 30÷38=0.789 25÷30=0.833 etc

4 Exponential Regression
The relation between  values of x and values of y, from which the value of y can be predicted for any value of x.

5 Entering data into your TI 84

6

7 CLEAR! ENTER!

8 Step 1. Enter the data in the calculator lists
Step 1.  Enter the data in the calculator lists.  Place the data in L1 and L2.  STAT, #1Edit, type values into the lists

9 Step 2. Prepare a scatter plot of the data. Set up for the scatterplot
Step 2.  Prepare a scatter plot of the data.  Set up for the scatterplot.  2nd StatPlot - the first icon Choose ZOOM #9 ZoomStat.

10 Include the parameters L1, L2, Y1.
Step 3.  Have the calculator determine the line of best fit. STAT → CALC #4 LinReg(ax+b)      Include the parameters L1, L2, Y1. (Y1 comes from  VARS → YVARS, #Function, Y1)

11 Step 4.  Graph the line of best fit.
To get a predicted value within the window, hit TRACE, up arrow, and type the desired value.
