Thermodynamic Review Conversion Formula Example Celsius to Kelvin K = C + 273 21 o C = 294 K Kelvin to Celsius C = K – 273 313 K = 40 o C Fahrenheit to Celsius C = (F - 32) x 5/9 89 o F = 31.7 o C Celsius to Fahrenheit F = (C x 9/5) + 32 50 o C = 122 o F * Note, to change back and forth between Fahrenheit and Kelvin is a two step process.
2
Practice problems a. Change 212°F to °C Select an equation……. Your right!.... Fahrenheit to Celsius C = (F - 32) x 5/9 C = (212 - 32) x 5/9 = 100
3
Practice problems b. Change 70 °F to °C Select an equation……. Your right!.... Fahrenheit to Celsius C = (F - 32) x 5/9 C = (70 - 32) x 5/9 = 21
4
Practice problems c. Change 140 °F to °C Select an equation……. Your right!.... Fahrenheit to Celsius C = (F - 32) x 5/9 C = (140 - 32) x 5/9 = 60
5
Practice problems d. Change 20 °C to °F Select an equation……. Your right!.... Celsius to Fahrenheit F = (C x 9/5) + 32 F = (20 x 9/5) + 32 = 68
6
Practice problems e. Change 85 °C to °F Select an equation……. Your right!.... Celsius to Fahrenheit F = (C x 9/5) + 32 F = (85 x 9/5) + 32 = 185
