Hellevoetsluis: William of Orange was asked by the Seven Bishops to invade England and get rid of James. After months of preparation Williams fleet gather in Hellevoetsluis in the Netherlands to embark on the journey to invade England. This happened on the 11 th of November 1688 Torbay: William and his fleet land in Torbay, England on the 15 th of November 1688 after 4 days of travelling. BANQUETING HALL IN WHITEHALL PALACE On February 13 th Ash Wednesday William and Mary are offered and accept the crown in ceremonies at the Banqueting Hall in Whitehall Palace. The Westminster Abbey held its first double coronation on 11 April 1689 in fact it is also the only double coronation in English history. This was the Coronation of William III and Mary II. The Westminster Abbey had been holding coronations since 1066 but it had never held one with so much political and religious beliefs behind it.
