Plans for the SUSY MET PAS and Current MET Status Kenichi Hatakeyama (Baylor) Henning Flaecher (Rochester) MET-SUSY PAS Kick-off Meeting April 28, 2010
2
MET-SUSY PAS The focus of the MET-SUSY PAS is “MET performance” in inclusive and jet events. Studies of MET in events with leptons/photons will go to MET-EWK PAS, and MET modeling for SUSY analyses will go to SUSY PAS. April 28, 20102

Timeline Schedule: Draft 0 with abstract, introduction, list of sections and figures: 30-April Summary during Physics Week: 17-May Plans for PAS in JetMET: 31-May Dataset frozen on 31-May, analysis notes and PAS released by: 7-June Pre-approval in JetMET meeting: 15-June MET ARC green light: 23-June MET approvals: 30-June Still subject to change. We have to define the study which is achievable in this time frame. April 28, 2010 https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/pub/CMS/JetMET/JetMETtimelineForICHEP.pdf 3

MET-SUSY PAS Contents Developments w.r.t. the previous MET PAS 7 TeV data! (1-10 pb -1 ) Repeat many of December data MET studies with 7 TeV data Study MET in various dijet event topology, higher jet energies (or HT), higher multiplicities (=2, =3, >=2, >=3, etc). Need to define studies so that we are studying MET performance but not QCD Type I & II corrections for CaloMET Plan to have (1) CaloMET, (2) TypeI+II MET, (3) TcMET, (4) PfMET, and (5) MHT in various event topologies MET significance Updates on noise cleaning Cleaning tools beyond the simplistic topological cuts (e.g. using timing information) are under development and to be documented April 28, 2010 https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/viewauth/CMS/METichepPAS2 5

What Do We Want to Achieve Today? Get to know each other! Review the status and plan of each contribution Check the scope of each analysis and feasibility Make sure all important items are well covered Any new idea? After the meeting, make the PAS draft 0 with abstract, introduction, list of sections and figures April 28, 20107
