8 Initial Application 1.Strip all old finish or other coatings from floor using a 3M floor stripper and a 3M stripping pad. Rinse and allow floor to dry thoroughly. 2.Burnish the floor with Scotch-Brite Purple Diamond Floor Pad Plus (do not burnish floors that contain asbestos). 3.Dust the floor using the 3M Easy Trap Duster. 4.Apply a thin, uniform coat of Scotchgard Vinyl Floor Protector using the 3M Easy Shine Applicator System. Allow 15 to 30 minutes of drying time. 6.Burnish the floor with the Scotch-Brite Purple Diamond Floor Pad. 7.Dust the floor using the 3M Easy Trap Duster. 8.Apply a second thin, uniform coat of Scotchgard Vinyl Floor Protector using the 3M Easy Shine Applicator System. Allow 15 to 30 minutes of drying time. 9.Burnish the floor with the Scotch-Brite Purple Diamond Floor Pad. 10.Dust the floor using the 3M Easy Trap Duster.

9 Maintenance Dust mop, damp mop with microfiber flat mop or machine scrub as necessary. For optimum appearance, auto scrub with 3M Neutral Cleaner Concentrate (Twist n Fill Cleaning Chemical Management System product no. 3 ) and 3M Topline Autoscrubber Pad 5000. When appearance of floor begins to dull, burnish the floor using the Scotch-Brite Purple Diamond Floor Pad (typically 1-2 times per month). Recoat traffic areas or entire floor as necessary with Scotchgard Vinyl Floor Protector using the 3M Easy Shine Applicator System. Be sure floor is clean and free of marks before recoating (typically 1-2 times per year).

11 Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs What precautions do you need to take the first 24 hours after applying this product? –The first 24 hours is critical to avoid standing water. There are no restrictions from using an auto scrubber or microfiber flat mop, but standing water can cause a blotchy appearance. * If you anticipate standing water in places, it is recommended that you apply a 5% acetic acid solution, such as household vinegar, to the floor using the 3M Easy Shine Applicator System after you have applied the second coat and burnished. The acetic acid solution helps accelerate the curing cycle and helps make the floor resistant to damage caused by standing water and spills after the application. –Floor can be opened to traffic when dry to the touch (20-30 minutes after application) Are there certain cleaning chemicals that should not be used on this product? –Butyl (also known as 2-Butoxyethanol) or d-limonene containing products should not be used on this product. –Butyl is commonly found in Floor Strippers, Surface Emulsifier / Extenders, and Degreasers

12 Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs How do I remove the Scotchgard Vinyl Floor Protector from the floor? –If you would like to remove it completely and recoat with a traditional, acrylic floor finish, use a 3M floor stripper and a 3M stripping pad. Rinse with water and allow floor to dry thoroughly. You can also scrub the floor with the Scotch-Brite Surface Preparation Pad and recoat with a traditional, acrylic floor finish –If you would like to recoat the floor with Scotchgard Vinyl Floor Protector, you only need to clean it thoroughly with 3M Blue Cleaner Pad 5300 with water or neutral cleaner before recoating with Scotchgard Vinyl Floor Protector. If neutral cleaner is used, rinse the floor with water and allow floor to dry thoroughly. How often do I need to strip the Scotchgard Vinyl Floor Protector from the floor? –Once you begin using Scotchgard Vinyl Floor Protector on your floors, you should not have to strip it off. In most applications, you only need to thoroughly clean before reapplying a single coat, typically 1-2x per year.
