IEEE 802 created an input to the PDNR at the March 2011 Plenary in Singapore. Our comments were adopted in the most recent WP 1A meeting and WP 1A has invited us to submit additional inputs (edits to the report). The ITU-R Liaison statement to IEEE 802 is available as 18- 11/50r0

This Correspondence Group (CG) will work in accordance with the following Terms of Reference: 1taking into account the Liaison Statement to ITU-T Study Group 15, to consider input contributions providing the following information: a.frequency band requirements; b.operational requirements; c.amount of spectrum needed; d.implementation aspects; 2to assess whether spectrum and operational requirements for NWHN could be met by the existing ITU-R publications; 3if the result of this assessment proves that the requirements cannot be met: a.to identify frequency bands which could be suitable for NWHN; b.to examine the effect of emissions from short range devices used for NWHN on radiocommunication services; 4to develop new or revised ITU-R Recommendation(s) and/or ITU-R Report(s), as appropriate; 5to report to the subsequent meetings of WP 1B.

Specifically, WP 5A would like to ask external organizations to provide WP 5A with any missing and/or complementary material. In particular, WP 5A is interested in receiving material for the missing overview sections of the standards in Report ITU-R M.[LMS.MGWS2] as highlighted via editor’s notes. WP 5A plans to finalize two documents in its eighth meeting of WP 5A to be held 8-17 November 2011. Deadline for contributions is 1 st November 2011 at 1600 hours UTC.

doc.: 18-11/58r0 Submission July 2011 John Notor, Notor ResearchSlide 11 PDNR ITU-R M.[LMS.WASN], WP 5A, 18-11/57r0 Title: Objectives, characteristics and functional requirements of wide- area sensor and/or actuator network (WASN) systems. This Recommendation provides the objectives, system characteristics, functional requirements, service applications and fundamental network functionalities for mobile wireless access systems providing communications to a large number of ubiquitous sensors and/or actuators scattered over wide areas in the land mobile service. The key objective of WASN systems is to support machine-to-machine service applications irrespective of machine locations. IEEE 802 may provide inputs by editing the PDNR with change marks enabled.
